In the initial position the white pieces form a 2x2 cluster.

1. Nxc5! 1. Nxa5? Bd4+! (1... Bb4+? 2. Kb3! (2. Nxb4? stalemate) 2... Bxa5 3. Na3#) 2. Nxd4 b4+! 3. Kb3 stalemate 1... b4+! 1... Nc4 2. Na3+ Nxa3 3. Bxa3 +- 2. Nxb4 Nc4!
